Your winter car checklist: battery, tyres, wipers and lights

Cold weather finds weak batteries first. If yours is over four years old, have it tested. Check tyre tread (3 mm is a sensible winter minimum) and pressures, replace tired wiper blades and top up screen wash rated for low temperatures.
