Brake pads: the signs it is time to replace them

Most pads have a wear indicator that squeals when the friction material is nearly gone. Do not ignore it. A grinding sound means metal on metal and the discs will need replacing too.

Always replace pads in axle sets, and check the discs for ridges and the fluid for age while the wheels are off.
